Ovocné Knedlíky
Ovocné knedlíky are one of the most cherished Czech desserts, and they hold a special place in the hearts of those who grew up eating them at grandmother's table. Soft dumplings made from potato or curd dough encase whole fresh fruits, typically strawberries or plums. After a brief boil, they emerge as plump, tender pillows that are split open to reveal the burst of warm, juicy fruit inside. They are finished with a lavish cascade of melted butter, a snowfall of powdered sugar, and a generous crumble of fresh tvaroh (curd cheese). Despite being a dessert, many Czechs enjoy them as a main course.
