Accessibility

Last updated: May 18, 2026

OriginEats is built to be usable by everyone. Accessibility is considered throughout the app’s design — not as an afterthought — so that cooking the world’s cuisines is welcoming regardless of how you see, hear, touch, or interact with your device.

Summary: OriginEats supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, Reduce Transparency, color-independent design, Dark Mode, Voice Control, and hands-free spoken cooking steps, and is fully localized in 26 languages.

VoiceOver

The app is designed to work with Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader. Interactive elements carry descriptive labels, hints, and appropriate accessibility traits, and related content is grouped so it can be navigated logically. Key recipe flows include custom accessibility actions and rotors to make moving through ingredients and cooking steps efficient with VoiceOver.

Dynamic Type & larger text

OriginEats supports Dynamic Type, so text throughout the app responds to your preferred reading size set in iOS Settings, including the larger Accessibility text sizes. We continue to expand and refine Dynamic Type coverage across every screen.

Reduce Motion

The app respects the system Reduce Motion setting. When it is enabled, animations and motion effects are minimized or removed to provide a calmer, more comfortable experience.

Reduce Transparency & color

OriginEats honors the Reduce Transparency setting, and the interface is designed so that meaning is never conveyed by color alone — important states are reinforced with text, shape, or icons so they remain clear with color-vision differences or the Differentiate Without Color setting.

Hands-free spoken recipes

Cook Mode can read recipe steps aloud, letting you follow along without looking at or touching the screen. Beyond its convenience while cooking, this benefits people with low vision or limited mobility by providing a clear, spoken, step-by-step guide.

Voice Control & full keyboard access

Because controls are built with standard components and clear accessibility labels, the app works with Voice Control and external keyboards and switch-based input, so it can be operated without touch.

Appearance

OriginEats supports both Light and Dark appearance and follows your system setting, helping reduce eye strain and improve legibility in different lighting conditions.

Languages

The entire app — including accessibility labels and spoken content — is localized in 26 languages, so accessibility features work in your preferred language.

Ongoing commitment

We treat accessibility as continuous work. We regularly test with assistive technologies and improve the app over time, following Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility and the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 where they apply. If something doesn’t work the way it should, we want to fix it.

Accessibility feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier in OriginEats, or have a suggestion to make the app more accessible, please contact us at support@origineats.app. Please include your device model, iOS version, the assistive technology you use, and a short description of the issue — we prioritize accessibility reports and will work to address them.
