🇧🇪 Belgium recipe
Stoofvlees
Stoofvlees is the Flemish beer stew found at every frituur in Belgium, ladled over crispy frites. While similar to carbonade flamande, stoofvlees has its own identity as the everyday working-class version, using cheaper cuts and whatever Belgian beer is at hand. The distinctive touch is a slice of bread spread with mustard that dissolves into the stew, thickening and flavoring the rich, dark sauce.
