🇧🇪 Belgium recipe

Filet Americain

Despite its name, filet americain is a purely Belgian creation. Unlike French steak tartare with its coarsely chopped texture, the Belgian version is ground very fine to an almost spreadable consistency and seasoned robustly with capers, onions, pickles, and a tangy sauce. It is served as a spread on toast, as a sandwich filling, or as a main course with frites. Every Belgian butcher has their own secret recipe.
