🇱🇰 Sri Lanka recipe

Parippu

Parippu is the simplest and most comforting dish in the Sri Lankan repertoire — a basic preparation of red lentils cooked with turmeric, coconut milk, and very little else. Where dal curry has a temper and more elaborate spicing, parippu is deliberately minimalist, allowing the pure, earthy flavor of the lentils and the richness of coconut milk to shine. It is the first solid food many Sri Lankan babies eat, and it remains a source of comfort throughout life.
