🇩🇴 Dominican Republic recipe
Habichuela con Dulce
Habichuela con Dulce is one of the Dominican Republic's most unique and beloved desserts — a sweet cream made from red kidney beans that is traditionally prepared during Lent and Holy Week. The beans are cooked, blended, and then simmered with coconut milk, evaporated milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, and sweet potato until thick and creamy. Served chilled with small cookies called galletitas de leche floating on top, it is unlike any dessert found elsewhere in the world.
