🇨🇭 Switzerland recipe
Tirggel
Among Switzerland's oldest confections, Tirggel are thin, ornately embossed honey cookies unique to Zurich, with a documented history stretching back to at least the 15th century. The dough is pressed into hand-carved wooden molds depicting biblical scenes, city landmarks, animals, and historical events, then baked until golden on one side and white on the other. Tirggel are a protected Zurich Christmas tradition, and their delicate honey flavor and beautiful imagery make them as much art as confection.
