Sekuwa
Sekuwa is Nepal's beloved barbecue tradition, featuring chunks of marinated meat threaded onto skewers and grilled over blazing charcoal. The marinade is a fiery blend of Nepali spices including cumin, coriander, Sichuan pepper, turmeric, and plenty of ginger and garlic, all bound with mustard oil and yogurt. Originating from the eastern Limbu community, sekuwa has become a universal Nepali street food found at every roadside stall, festival, and family gathering. The scent of sekuwa grilling over charcoal is one of Nepal's most evocative aromas.
